Sven Altenburger
I am a political theorist.
My research interests are in theories of citizenship, political obligation, taxation, and military institutions – and the links between them. I approach these issues chiefly by means of institutional political theory that bridges empirical, conceptual, normative, and historical aspects.
Currently, I am a Lecturer at Goethe University Frankfurt. I previously worked at the University of Göttingen and Kiel University.
I hold a PhD in Politics from the University of Göttingen and an MA in History of Political Thought from Queen Mary University of London and University College London. I also held visiting positions at the University of Chicago, the University of Exeter, and the University of Copenhagen. In a former life, I worked for the German think tank Das Progressive Zentrum.
